Obey the Law
Trick or treating is only for children 12-years old or younger. Trick or treat times in the City of Norfolk are until 8pm.
Safety Tips for Parents
A parent or responsible adult should always accompany younger children during the trick or treating fun.
Older children should be given a specific time to be home. Make them wear a watch.
Have your child eat dinner before heading out to trick or treat.
Make sure each child carries and uses a flashlight with new batteries.
Know where your children are going. Make sure they have access to a cell phone so they can check in with you.
Tell them to never eat any candy before you can inspect it.
Unhaunt your Home
Welcome trick or treaters at home by turning on your exterior lights.
Remove anything a child could trip over such as garden hoses, bikes, toys, and lawn decorations.
Check outdoor lights and replace any burned out bulbs.
Wet leaves should be swept from sidewalks and steps.
Make the Call
Keep the whole neighborhood safe by reporting any suspicious or criminal activity to the police.

Ekyse Kalfus sent the following letter to notify everyone of the Wards Corner Spook-tacular Meeting
We will have a meeting on Tuesday evening at the Haunted House, 135 E. Little Creek Road at 6:00 pm. You will need to bring your own chair if you wish to sit. Also if you can stay and work for a while bring what tools you think you think will be helpful including electric screwdrivers..
We have one week to get this Haunted House together. We need to discuss not only the Haunted House, but the Mall Arcade and all the other arrangements for this event. If you know of any other people who wish to join in with us on this event please bring them with you.
Remember we are doing this for the children of the city, and the money raised from the Haunted House goes to support different programs in our area for special needs children.
At this time we have students from Granby High School, Norfolk Collegiate, and Norview High School working with us. I am waiting to hear back from several other schools and expect to hear back on Monday.
Our events are posted on the city website and will be appearing in the Compass on October 21st and the Link on October 23rd. We will also be on Norfolk Perspectives to mention a few.
I hope to see you all on Tuesday,
