Terminal Blvd resurfacing to begin in June

The entirety of Terminal Blvd will be resurfaced beginning in June.  The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.  During that time we can expect increased traffic on area roadways including W. Little Creek Road.

From the VDOT website:

The Terminal Boulevard Resurfacing Project includes:

  • Rubblization of existing concrete pavement, with an overlay of 6″ of asphalt pavement
  • Adjustments to affected drop inlets, bringing them up to the grade of the new roadway, as well as building new curbs
  • Removal and replacement of existing guardrail
  • Tie into existing grade at Ruthaven Road and Diven Street intersections to avoid impacts to railroad
  • Removal and replacement of damaged stormwater pipes

Lane Closure information:

Phase 1: Eastbound Full Directional Closures on Terminal Boulevard:
6:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. weekdays
6:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday

Phase 2: Westbound Full Directional closures on Terminal Boulevard (including I-564 off-ramp):
6:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. weekdays
9 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday

Starbucks applies to open at Hampton and W. Little Creek

April 12, 2016

Starbucks has applied for a Special Exception to operate a new location with a drive-thru at 7600 Hampton Blvd.  This is the former location of Church’s Chicken Restaurant.

Starbucks plans to tear down the old Church’s Chicken building and construct a new 1,913sq.ft. store on the site.

Starbucks is scheduled to go before the Planning Commission on May 26, 2016.

Suburban Acres Civic League to hold candidate forums

April 8, 2016

The Suburban Acres Civic League has extended an invitation to all Wards Corner residents to attend their special meeting on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Suburban Park Elementary.

Doors open at 5:30pm.  Mayoral candidates are expected to go on at 6pm and Superward 6 candidates will begin at 7pm.
