The Greater Wards Corner Task Force to meet Thursday without Council members and City Representatives

After discussion with several of the citizen members of the Wards Corner Task Force, it has been decided to hold the regularly scheduled meeting as planned for Thursday February 14th at 8:30 am at the Norfolk Fitness and Wellness Center, 7300 Newport Avenue, without the presence of the Council and City Representatives who cancelled the meeting. The agenda for the meeting will be to finalize our action plans/strategy as discussed and agreed upon at the last Tuesday Greater Wards Corner Partnership meeting. See you there.”

GOOD! I guess we don’t need council members at the meeting — they haven’t done anything towards putting the Comprehensive Plan into action. It’s unfortunate for council members that they are so transparent in their disregard for the WC community, because May is just around the corner!

I just wanted to say “thank you” to the task/goal oriented ivdividuals who did come together at the meeting and kept the meeting very positive and motivational. That’s what we need! The Greater Wards area is an area to be proud of…and we should want to work together and show everyone that we are unified in that effort. Norfolk may have ‘slipped a bit in appearance’, especially the Wards Corner area, but it is by far the terrible place some make it out to be! We can bring it back to where it once was and possibly make it even better. Let us keep that as our goal and focus and ALL work together. We must continue to hold certain individuals accountable for keeping their promises but also praise those who have. One way we can begin is by showing up at the groundbreaking ceremony that you may/may not have been invited to! And no……I am not looking through my ‘rose colored glasses’ but feel we can get more done with coooperation and motivation than disunity and disharmony.
