The new Harris Teeter anchored shopping center at the southeast corner of Wards Corner has a new name: K & K Square at Wards Corner.
K & K Toys, which existed on the property beginning in the 1970s, was the basis of the future “everything for a dollar” concept that gave birth to Dollar Tree.
The current tenant list for the new shopping center (from left to right, looking at the shopping center): Starbucks, Subway, Great Clips, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Sleepy’s Mattresses, Harris Teeter, Albano Cleaners, GNC, nTelos Wireless, and a vacant 2100sf location. The out-parcel will be a TowneBank branch.
Harris Teeter and the rest of the shopping center tenants are expected to open in February 2014. TowneBank is expected to open in early summer 2014.
Restaurants other than fast food? Any plans for a retail store….Steinmarts, TJMaxx?

Yeah! Looks like a great start. A real Starbucks? (not the one in Farm Fresh). Moe’s is good.
I miss Uncle Louie’s–any word on a full service bistro type restaurant with a group/dinner room?
Yes, would be nice if the shopping center could attract a more substantial business that would ensure constant and return visitors (a gym, a ‘neighborhood’ type restaurant/deli, a boutique type shop with specialty home decor)…I wonder if maybe a Target or Steinmart, or similar might go on the old Super KMart site up on Tidewater…
I would be great if Targets or Steinmarts was a part of the new K&K Square. I would love it if Panera Bread, Jason’s Deli, or a Chic Fil A was a part of the fabric too…
Towne Bank!. Are you kidding!. They have a horrible reputation overcharging with fees and other nonsense. We need to reconsider this one!
I think this is a great start, With Harris Teeter opening soon this will open up jobs for this area.
